ABOUT ME
My name is Eglė Markūnienė – a newborn doctor and neonatologist. After graduating from high school in 1984, I enrolled at LSMU, previously known as Kaunas Institute of Medicine. When I was asked why I had chosen medicine, my answer was that I wanted to help people. Today my answer stays the same. At that time I didn't know what it meant to help people. There were many hardships...
In 1991 I graduated from Kaunas Academy of Medicine in 1994 I finished my pediatrics residency and in 1996 my neonatology residency.
In 1998 I started doctoral studies and in 2003 I defended my thesis "Medical, Psychological and Sociological Factors of Breastfeeding".
While wishing everybody to stay healthy, from now on I will be consulting you about breastfeeding, child development, health and other relevant questions not only in person but also online.
